Co-owners Janelle Davis and Laura Goodwin met while working in the Florida panhandle in 2001. Janelle from Delaware, and Laura from Missouri they were both far from home and quickly became friends and eventually roommates. They moved for a short time to St. Thomas, USVI. Laura left for grad school in Jacksonville, Germany, and France. Janelle eventually back to Delaware. After grad school, Laura came to Delaware to stay with Janelle for a bit while figuring out where to put her education to use. Laura hit it off with Janelle’s roommate, and she is still here in the first state. Through the years they have remained friends and enjoyed getting together to enjoy music, play games, and share some chat therapy. The Ladybug was the product of many chats while enjoying cheeses, smoked meats and fun spreads. They wanted to create something that they themselves would love to purchase while out and about. They also wanted something that they could involve their children in and perhaps someday pass along to them as an entrepreneurial experience.
The Ladybug found its name during a transformative time for both owners. Symbolically, ladybugs are a sign of new beginnings, good luck, prosperity, and protection.
It is our mission to provide nourishment to fuel the adventures of everyone enjoying time with friends and family. While charcuterie is our central theme, we are fully customizable and can transform the cart to anything from a bar cart to a dessert station. We hope you will seek us out at fairs and music events in our community but we are also available for private events as well.
